Construction Health and Safety Manager

About the Role

Our client is looking for a highly competent and experienced Construction Health and Safety Manager to oversee and implement robust H&S strategies across their projects in and around Reading . This senior role is pivotal in ensuring a safe working environment for all personnel and maintaining compliance with all statutory health, safety, and environmental requirements. You will lead the H&S function, championing best practices and fostering a proactive safety culture throughout the organization. This is a critical position for an individual passionate about safety and capable of driving continuous improvement in a dynamic construction setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage the company’s health and safety management system .
• Conduct comprehensive site audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards.
• Lead investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters to all levels of the organization.
• Develop and deliver relevant H&S training programs to site teams and management.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, and industry best practices, including CDM 2015 .

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Health and Safety Management role within the construction industry.
• NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent).
• Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IOSH - Chartered).
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction-specific H&S requirements.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and influencing skills.
