Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client requires a dedicated Construction Health and Safety Officer to join their site-based team in Leeds . Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the highest standards of health and safety are maintained across all construction activities, safeguarding the well-being of all personnel and preventing accidents. You will conduct regular site inspections, develop and implement safety procedures, and provide training to site staff. This critical role demands a proactive and vigilant approach to risk management within the challenging construction environment, ensuring compliance with all legal requirements and promoting a strong safety culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures on construction sites.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventive measures.
• Deliver health and safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel.
• Ensure all site activities comply with relevant health and safety legislation and industry best practices.
• Maintain accurate safety records and documentation.

Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma).
• Proven experience in a Health and Safety role within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety regulations specific to construction.
• Excellent communication, reporting, and training skills.
• Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and implement effective control measures.
