Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a diligent and knowledgeable Construction Health and Safety Officer to join their team, operating with a hybrid work arrangement in Edinburgh . You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies and procedures across various construction sites. Your primary objective will be to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel and to maintain compliance with all relevant legislation. This role is crucial for promoting a strong safety culture and mitigating risks within the projects undertaken by our client in Scotland .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive health and safety plans and procedures for construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, providing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to site personnel and promote a positive safety culture.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records, including risk assessments and safety performance data.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and provide guidance on all health and safety matters.

Requirements

• NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety is essential.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a dedicated health and safety role within the construction industry .
• Thorough knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices.
• Excellent communication, auditing, and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, with strong influencing skills.
