Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client requires a proactive and diligent Construction Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment across their projects in Leeds . This role is critical in maintaining compliance with all statutory health, safety, and welfare regulations on construction sites. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety strategies, conducting inspections, and providing guidance to site personnel. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and enforce comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures on construction sites.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, reporting findings and implementing corrective actions.
• Provide health and safety training and guidance to all site personnel, including management and subcontractors.
• Maintain accurate records of health and safety performance, including risk assessments and training logs.
• Liaise with external bodies, such as the HSE, to ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer within the construction industry.
• Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma in Health and Safety.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation applicable to construction.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a keen eye for detail.
