Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Construction Health and Safety Officer to champion safety across all their projects. Operating in a fully remote capacity, you will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and monitoring robust health and safety strategies that comply with all UK legislation and industry best practices. This role demands a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence safety culture throughout the organization, from senior management to site operatives. You will conduct virtual risk assessments, develop safety training programs, and ensure that all sites maintain the highest standards of safety, regardless of their physical location. This is a vital role for maintaining our client's commitment to a safe working environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and review comprehensive health and safety policies and procedures for construction sites.
• Conduct virtual risk assessments and identify potential hazards, recommending and implementing control measures.
• Organize and deliver engaging health and safety training sessions to site personnel and management.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending preventative actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Monitor safety performance through virtual audits and reporting, driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• Possession of relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and construction safety best practices.
• Excellent report writing, presentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively in a remote setting.
• Experience with safety management systems and digital reporting tools.
