Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a proactive and knowledgeable Construction Health and Safety Officer to support their operations in Belfast, Northern Ireland . This role will involve a hybrid working approach, requiring presence on-site as well as administrative tasks. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures across all construction projects to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation and a commitment to promoting a culture of safety awareness on construction sites. Your expertise will be vital in minimizing risks and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety plans for construction projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards and non-compliance issues.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Provide health and safety training and toolbox talks to site personnel.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation and regulations.
• Maintain accurate health and safety records and documentation.

Requirements

• Recognized qualification in Health and Safety (e.g., NEBOSH National General Certificate or Diploma).
• Proven experience in a similar role within the construction industry .
• Thorough understanding of UK health and safety legislation.
• Excellent observational and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with site teams.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid capacity, balancing site visits and office duties.
