Construction Health and Safety Officer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Construction Health and Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment across multiple sites in the Wolverhampton area. This role is critical for implementing and enforcing health and safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture. You will work closely with site management and personnel to identify potential hazards and implement preventative measures, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. This is an essential role for maintaining operational integrity and protecting the well-being of all staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor health and safety management systems and procedures.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver health and safety training to site personnel and management.
• Prepare and update risk assessments and method statements.
• Advise management on all aspects of health, safety, and environmental legislation.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in the construction industry.
• Relevant qualifications such as NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
• In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and best practices in construction.
• Strong auditing, inspection, and reporting skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others.
• First Aid certification is desirable.
