Construction Planner

About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and forward-thinking Construction Planner to join their project team in Portsmouth . This role is integral to the successful execution of construction projects, involving the development, monitoring, and updating of detailed project schedules. You will work closely with project managers, site teams, and stakeholders to create robust plans that ensure timely delivery, efficient resource utilization, and effective risk management. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain comprehensive project programmes using planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject.
• Collaborate with project teams to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables for effective planning.
• Monitor project progress against the baseline plan, identifying potential delays and proposing mitigation strategies.
• Prepare and present regular progress reports, including critical path analysis and look-ahead schedules.
• Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain accurate progress information and upcoming works.
• Contribute to risk management by identifying potential programme risks and developing contingency plans.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Construction Planner or in a similar role within the construction industry.
• Proficiency in using planning software (e.g., Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, MS Project).
• Strong understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and sequencing.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with all project stakeholders.
