Contracts Manager

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Contracts Manager to oversee the commercial and contractual aspects of construction projects operating out of Stoke-on-Trent . You will be responsible for managing all contract-related activities, from procurement and negotiation to risk management and dispute resolution, ensuring that the company's commercial interests are protected and optimized. This senior role requires a deep understanding of contract law, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to foster excellent working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. You will play a vital role in ensuring the profitability and successful delivery of our client's projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, negotiate, and manage all construction contracts and subcontracts to protect the company's interests.
• Oversee the tendering process, ensuring fair and competitive procurement of goods and services.
• Manage contractual claims, variations, and disputes, seeking commercially advantageous resolutions.
• Monitor contract performance, ensuring compliance with terms, conditions, and project specifications.
• Provide expert advice on contractual matters and risk management to project teams and senior management.
• Ensure adherence to all legal and regulatory requirements related to contracts and procurement.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in a Contracts Manager or senior commercial role within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of UK construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) and contract law.
• Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and manage commercial risks effectively.
• Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships.
• A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Law, or Construction Management is highly desirable.
