About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Contracts Manager to oversee commercial and contractual aspects of projects in the Derby area. This senior role is responsible for ensuring that contracts are managed effectively from award through to completion, maximizing profitability and minimizing risk. You will lead a team of surveyors and commercial professionals, negotiate with clients and subcontractors, and provide expert advice on all contractual matters. This is a key position within the company, offering significant influence and the opportunity to shape project outcomes in Derby and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the commercial and contractual management of multiple construction projects.
Negotiate and manage contract terms , variations, and claims with clients and subcontractors.
Develop and implement effective cost control and financial reporting mechanisms.
Identify and mitigate contractual risks, ensuring compliance with all legal and company requirements.
Oversee the preparation of final accounts and resolve any disputes amicably.
Mentor and manage the commercial team, fostering a culture of excellence and professionalism.

Requirements

Extensive experience in a Contracts Manager or senior commercial role within the construction industry.
In-depth knowledge of various construction contracts (e.g., NEC, JCT) and their implications.
Proven ability to manage complex financial and contractual issues.
Strong leadership, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Law, or a related field.
Proficiency in contract management software and financial reporting tools is essential.
