About the Role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Contracts Manager to oversee the contractual and commercial aspects of construction projects based in and around Reading . This critical role involves managing all contractual documentation, ensuring compliance, and protecting the company's interests throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project teams, legal departments, and external stakeholders to ensure smooth commercial operations and mitigate contractual risks. This is a vital on-site and office-based position requiring extensive experience in construction contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with terms and conditions.
- Review, negotiate, and draft contract amendments, variations, and claims.
- Oversee the procurement process for subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring favourable terms.
- Monitor project performance against contractual obligations, identifying potential disputes and implementing resolution strategies.
- Liaise with legal counsel, project managers, and clients on all contractual matters.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping of all contractual documentation and correspondence.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in a Contracts Manager or senior commercial role within the construction industry.
- Deep understanding of various construction contract forms (e.g., NEC, JCT) and their implications.
- Strong legal and commercial acumen, with excellent negotiation skills.
- Ability to interpret complex contractual clauses and provide clear advice.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
- Relevant degree in Law, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
