Role: Control Panel Builder
Location: Sandy SG19
Hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
Salary: £16.00 – £18.00 per hour
An excellent opportunity has now arisen for an experienced Control Panel Builder to join our client’s successful electrical team.
Who are they?
Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of bespoke food processing systems. They specialise in high-quality, custom-built industrial cooking and cooling equipment supplied to customers across a range of markets.
This is a hands-on, workshop-based opportunity working on bespoke, small-batch production where precision, craftsmanship and attention to detail are essential.

Duties of a Control Panel Builder:
Build and wire low-voltage control panels, working with 110–600V AC, single and three-phase systems and 24V DC
Read and interpret EPLAN electrical schematics, mechanical layout drawings and detailed BOMs
Install and terminate a range of electrical components, including circuit protection devices, relays, solenoid valves, inverter drives, soft starts and contactors
Install and wire HMIs and PLC systems, including Mitsubishi, Allen Bradley and Siemens
Build and work across a variety of panel types, including junction boxes, HMI enclosures, MCCs and multi-door cabinets
Use hand and power tools to fabricate and assemble panel components
Measure, mark out and work with materials including stainless steel, GRP, mild steel and galvanised steel
Carry out continuity testing and basic functional checks
Maintain a clean, organised and efficient working area
Work closely with design and test engineers while following guidance from the supervisor
What we would like from you:
Minimum 4 years’ experience in electrical control panel building
Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical layout drawings
Experience with wire selection, crimping, ferrule termination and cable routing
Good understanding of both AC and DC control systems
High attention to detail with a consistent focus on quality workmanship
Competent and confident using hand and workshop power tools
Good understanding of safe working practices within an electrical workshop
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team
Full UK driving licence is essential
Desirable:
Formal electrical qualifications
Completed electrical apprenticeship
Experience using EPLAN and interpreting detailed BOMs
Previous experience within food machinery, industrial automation or a similar engineering environment
Understanding of electrical testing procedures and control panel safety checks

Working Hours
The position is contracted at 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Typical working hours are:
Monday: 7:30am – 4:00pm
Tuesday: 7:30am – 4:30pm
Wednesday & Thursday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
Friday: 7:30am – 12:00pm
Standard breaks include a 10-minute morning break and a 30-minute lunch break.
Overtime is generally available and paid at 1.5x the standard hourly rate for Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings. Employees are expected to work a reasonable amount of overtime when requested by their Supervisor or Manager.
