About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Chemical Engineer to enhance their automation and process control capabilities in Derby . This role focuses on the design, implementation, and optimization of advanced control systems for chemical manufacturing processes, ensuring operational stability, efficiency, and safety. You will work in a hybrid capacity, collaborating with both on-site teams and remotely, to integrate state-of-the-art automation technologies and improve overall plant performance. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) for chemical processes.
- Develop advanced process control strategies, including model predictive control (MPC), to optimize performance and stability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to control systems hardware and software.
- Collaborate with process engineers to define control requirements and develop functional design specifications.
- Ensure all control system implementations comply with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Provide training and support to operations and maintenance personnel on control system functionalities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in process control or automation.
- 5+ years of experience in designing and implementing control systems for chemical or process industries.
- Proficiency with major DCS platforms (e.g., Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion) and PLC programming.
- Strong understanding of process dynamics, instrumentation, and automation principles.
- Experience with cybersecurity for industrial control systems is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a hybrid remote/on-site environment.
