Control Systems Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an accomplished Control Systems Electrical Engineer to join their industrial operations team in Wolverhampton, West Midlands . This role is integral to the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated control systems that drive manufacturing processes. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of automated machinery and production lines. Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission industrial control systems, including PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and related documentation for control panels and machinery.
• Specify and select control system components, sensors, actuators, and variable speed drives.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and control system issues to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers, process engineers, and operations personnel to ensure optimal system performance.
• Implement system upgrades and modifications to improve efficiency, safety, and functionality.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems.
• Strong proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Allen-Bradley Studio 5000) and HMI development.
• Solid understanding of industrial networks (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP) and fieldbuses.
• Experience with robotics integration and safety systems is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team on-site in Wolverhampton .
