About the Role

Our client is seeking a dedicated Control Systems Electrical Engineer to join their industrial automation team based in Sunderland . This role is integral to the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated control systems that drive manufacturing processes. You will work hands-on with PLCs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of state-of-the-art production facilities. Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for industrial automation systems.
• Develop and maintain SCADA systems, ensuring effective data acquisition, visualization, and control.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system issues, minimizing downtime in production environments.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to integrate control solutions seamlessly.
• Conduct electrical safety assessments and ensure compliance with relevant industry standards for control systems.
• Create and update technical documentation, including electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and functional descriptions.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related technical discipline.
• 3-5 years of experience specifically in industrial control systems engineering.
• Proficiency with major PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell Automation) and HMI software.
• Experience with SCADA system configuration and network protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Strong understanding of electrical schematics, control panel design, and troubleshooting techniques.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, with occasional travel to other sites.
