Control Systems Electrical Engineer

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Control Systems Electrical Engineer to join their manufacturing facility in Glasgow . This role focuses on the design, implementation, and maintenance of industrial control systems, automation solutions, and electrical infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of production processes through expert application of electrical engineering principles and automation technologies. This is a hands-on, on-site position perfect for an engineer passionate about industrial automation and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement electrical control systems for new machinery and process upgrades.
• Develop and troubleshoot PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and HMI (Human-Machine Interface) software.
• Perform electrical maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on plant equipment.
• Ensure all electrical installations and modifications comply with safety regulations and company standards.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to optimize automation processes and improve equipment uptime.
• Manage electrical spare parts inventory and support capital expenditure projects related to automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
• Strong proficiency with Siemens or Allen-Bradley PLCs and associated software.
• Experience with VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and servo motor systems.
• Knowledge of industrial networks and communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Ethernet/IP).
• Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to work under pressure.
