Control Systems Engineer - Energy Infrastructure

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the operational integrity of energy infrastructure across the Birmingham region. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and support of sophisticated control systems that ensure the reliable and efficient delivery of energy. Key Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission SCADA and PLC systems for energy distribution networks.
• Develop and maintain control system logic, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
• Conduct system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for any control system failures.
• Implement cybersecurity measures to protect critical energy infrastructure control systems.
• Collaborate with field technicians and operations teams to support system upgrades and maintenance.
• Create and update technical documentation, including P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and operating manuals.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience with industrial control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as ladder logic, structured text, or C++.
• Experience with network protocols common in industrial automation (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
• Knowledge of energy infrastructure operations and safety standards.
• Strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail.
