Control Systems Engineer - Energy Sector

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to enhance their operations within the vital Energy sector in Portsmouth . This role involves the design, implementation, and maintenance of sophisticated control systems that ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of energy infrastructure. Operating within a hybrid model, you will collaborate with a dedicated engineering team on-site while also having the flexibility of remote work for specific tasks and analysis. Your expertise will be key in optimizing automated processes and ensuring system stability in a critical industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and commission PLC, SCADA, and DCS systems for energy generation and distribution facilities.
• Program and troubleshoot control system software, ensuring optimal performance and safety interlocks.
• Develop system architecture, network designs, and cybersecurity measures for control systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate control systems with plant operations and data acquisition systems.
• Provide technical support and training for control system operators and maintenance personnel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial control systems engineering, preferably within the energy or utilities sector.
• Proficiency with programming languages for PLCs (e.g., Ladder Logic, Structured Text) and SCADA/HMI software.
• Strong understanding of instrumentation, industrial networks (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus), and cybersecurity principles.
• Experience with project management and working in a hybrid or remote team environment.
