About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Control Systems Engineer to join their innovative technology team in Cambridge . This role involves the design, implementation, and optimization of automated control systems for complex industrial processes within the Oil & Gas sector. You will work on developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance efficiency, safety, and reliability. This hybrid position allows for a balance of hands-on work in their facilities and focused development time remotely, contributing to the advancement of operational technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
• Specify and select appropriate instrumentation, sensors, and actuators for control loops.
• Develop and implement advanced control strategies to optimize process performance.
• Perform system integration, testing, and commissioning of control systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing control systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Collaborate with process engineers and operations teams to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Control Systems Engineer , with expertise in PLC/DCS programming.
• Familiarity with various industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
• Experience with system design, simulation, and testing methodologies.
• Strong understanding of process dynamics and control theory.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and adaptability to work in a hybrid setup .
