Control Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Control Systems Engineer to join their established team in Newcastle upon Tyne . This role involves the design, implementation, and optimisation of automated control systems for a variety of industrial applications. Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems for industrial automation processes.
• Implement and test control algorithms to ensure optimal system performance and safety.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing control systems, minimising downtime.
• Collaborate with project managers and clients to define system requirements and scope.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for control system designs and configurations.
• Provide technical support for the installation and commissioning of control systems.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing PLC and HMI systems using major vendor platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
• Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Profibus, Modbus).
• Familiarity with SCADA system architecture and implementation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, balancing on-site and remote responsibilities.
