Control Systems Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join their innovative team in Derby, Derbyshire, UK , focusing on advanced automation within the energy sector . This role is crucial for designing, implementing, and optimizing sophisticated control systems for power generation and distribution infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) for energy applications.
• Specify and select appropriate hardware components, sensors, and actuators for automation projects.
• Develop and implement control strategies to optimize plant performance and ensure operational safety.
• Conduct system integration, testing, commissioning, and validation of control systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing control systems, providing ongoing technical support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, electrical engineers, and software developers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing and implementing industrial control systems , preferably in the energy industry .
• Proficiency with PLC/DCS programming software (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, ABB 800xA).
• Strong understanding of industrial automation, instrumentation, and communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, suitable for a hybrid working environment.
