Core Subject Tutor - L1, Merseyside
Location: L1, Merseyside
Hours: Part-Time, School Hours (Weekdays)
Pay: £25 - £30 per hour , dependent on experience and qualifications
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Core Subject Tutor to provide tailored educational support to learners in the L1 area of Merseyside . This rewarding role involves delivering personalised tuition during weekday school hours , helping students improve their understanding of core subjects while supporting those with SEN .
You will work closely with learners to build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, improve academic attainment, and foster a positive attitude towards education. The role may involve supporting students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties .
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions in core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and SEN requirements.
- Assess students' abilities and create personalised learning plans.
- Plan and adapt lessons to suit different abilities and learning styles.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
- Build positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and relevant professionals.
- Encourage student engagement, confidence, independence, and resilience.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
- Experience teaching or tutoring core subjects.
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
- Strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
- Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification.
- Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education.
- Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
- Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies.
