About the Role
Our client is actively seeking a diligent and proactive Credit Controller to manage outstanding customer debts and ensure timely payment collection. This is a critical role within the finance department, primarily based in our Liverpool office. You will be responsible for monitoring customer accounts, communicating with clients to resolve payment issues, and implementing strategies to minimize bad debt. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining strong customer relationships while effectively managing credit risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of customer accounts, ensuring all outstanding debts are collected within agreed payment terms.
- Contact customers via phone and email to chase overdue payments, negotiate payment plans, and resolve queries.
- Allocate incoming payments received and maintain accurate records of all communications and actions taken.
- Perform credit checks on new and existing customers, setting appropriate credit limits.
- Prepare weekly/monthly aged debt reports and provide analysis to the finance manager.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar debt collection role.
- Strong understanding of credit control procedures and debt management techniques.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with accounting software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy office environment in Liverpool .
