About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Credit Risk Manager to lead their risk management function in Cardiff . This critical role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization's credit risk framework, policies, and procedures within the banking and finance sector. You will play a vital part in assessing and managing credit exposures, ensuring the soundness of lending activities, and safeguarding the financial health of the institution. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of risk analytics and a proven ability to navigate complex financial landscapes in a challenging market environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and refine credit risk assessment methodologies, policies, and procedures.
- Monitor and analyze the credit quality of the loan portfolio, identifying emerging risks and trends.
- Set credit limits and approval guidelines for various client segments and financial products.
- Oversee the stress testing and scenario analysis of the credit portfolio.
- Collaborate with business development teams to ensure credit risk appetite is aligned with strategic objectives.
- Report on credit risk exposures, portfolio performance, and regulatory compliance to senior management and the board.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Significant experience (7+ years) in credit risk management, credit analysis, or a related field within the banking industry .
- Strong knowledge of credit risk modeling techniques, regulatory frameworks (e.g., Basel III/IV), and portfolio management.
- Proficiency in risk management software, databases, and analytical tools.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
