About the Role

Our client, a reputable firm known for its strong advocacy in criminal defence, is seeking a dedicated Criminal Defence Lawyer to join their team in Sheffield . This role involves representing clients facing a wide range of criminal charges, from minor offences to serious indictable crimes. You will be responsible for providing expert legal advice, preparing cases, and appearing in magistrates' and crown courts. This is a challenging yet crucial role for a lawyer passionate about justice and committed to defending the rights of individuals, working within a supportive environment in South Yorkshire .

Key Responsibilities

• Represent clients accused of criminal offences at police stations and in court.
• Provide clear and accurate legal advice to clients at all stages of criminal proceedings.
• Conduct thorough case preparation, including evidence review and witness preparation.
• Draft and file court documents, including applications and defence statements.
• Negotiate with the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) and other relevant parties.
• Appear in Magistrates' Courts and Crown Courts to conduct advocacy.

Requirements

• A qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate.
• Proven experience in criminal defence work , including police station accreditation.
• Strong advocacy skills and courtroom presence.
• Excellent understanding of criminal law and procedure.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage complex caseloads.
• A commitment to upholding client rights and achieving the best possible outcomes.
