Crop Protection Advisor

About the Role

Our client, a significant agricultural cooperative in Oxfordshire , is seeking an expert Crop Protection Advisor . This role is critical in helping farmers manage pests, diseases, and weeds effectively and sustainably. You will provide technical advice on integrated pest management (IPM) strategies, chemical and biological control methods, and best practices for minimizing crop losses while adhering to environmental regulations. You will be working directly with growers to implement cutting-edge solutions and promote responsible crop protection methods.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess crop health and identify pests, diseases, and weed pressures.
• Develop and recommend integrated pest management (IPM) strategies for various crops.
• Advise on the appropriate use of pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Provide guidance on biological control methods and cultural practices to manage crop threats.
• Educate farmers on the safe and effective application of crop protection products.
• Monitor crop development and pest resistance patterns.
• Stay updated on new products, technologies, and regulations in crop protection.

Requirements

• A degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Plant Pathology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in crop protection, pest management, or a similar advisory role.
• Knowledge of UK pesticide regulations and stewardship schemes.
• Familiarity with IPM principles and sustainable agriculture practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for advising farmers.
• Ability to conduct field assessments and provide practical recommendations in the Oxfordshire region.
