Cyber Security Analyst - SOC

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Analyst to join their dynamic Security Operations Centre (SOC) team in Derby . In this role, you will be responsible for the continuous monitoring of security systems, detecting and analysing potential threats, and responding effectively to security incidents. You will work with a variety of advanced security tools to protect the organisation's network and data from cyber-attacks. This is an exciting opportunity for an analyst eager to develop their career in a fast-paced, critical security function, contributing to the organisation's overall defence strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor security alerts and logs using SIEM and other security tools to identify malicious activity.
• Investigate security incidents, perform initial triage, and escalate as necessary.
• Analyse threat intelligence to proactively identify potential risks and vulnerabilities.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of SOC procedures and playbooks.
• Collaborate with other IT security teams to implement appropriate security measures.
• Generate regular reports on security events and trends for management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 1-3 years of experience in a cyber security or SOC environment.
• Familiarity with common security threats, attack vectors, and defence mechanisms.
• Understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and operating systems.
• Experience with SIEM tools and endpoint security solutions is advantageous.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
