Cyber Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and technically adept Cyber Security Engineer to join their team, operating remotely to support their UK-wide operations. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and maintain security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint detection and response (EDR) systems.
• Develop and implement security hardening guidelines for servers, networks, and cloud environments.
• Conduct security monitoring, log analysis, and investigate potential security incidents.
• Automate security tasks and processes using scripting languages to improve efficiency and reduce response times.
• Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of system design and operation.
• Participate in threat modeling and risk assessments to proactively identify and address potential security weaknesses.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in a cyber security engineering role.
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts, TCP/IP, routing, and switching.
• Hands-on experience with security technologies such as SIEM , firewalls, EDR, and cloud security solutions (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.
