Our client is looking for a proactive and skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join their dedicated security operations team in Sunderland . Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage security technologies such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and endpoint security solutions.
• Monitor security alerts and events, analyzing logs and investigating potential security incidents.
• Perform regular security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests on internal and external systems.
• Assist in the development and execution of incident response plans, including containment, eradication, and recovery.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of security infrastructure and processes.
• Provide technical support and guidance on security best practices to IT staff and end-users.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 2-4 years of hands-on experience in a cyber security or network security role.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST Cybersecurity Framework).
• Experience with security monitoring tools, SIEM systems, and log analysis.
• Understanding of network protocols, operating systems (Windows and Linux), and common vulnerabilities.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to security challenges.
