About the Role
Our client is seeking a dedicated Cyber Security Engineer to join their established IT department in Coventry . This role is integral to building and maintaining a secure infrastructure, protecting against evolving cyber threats. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing security solutions that safeguard the company's critical systems and data. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in cybersecurity and a proactive approach to threat mitigation, ensuring the resilience and integrity of our digital environment, working closely with IT operations and development teams to embed security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage security infrastructure, including firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
- Develop and maintain security hardening standards for servers, applications, and network devices.
- Conduct regular security assessments and penetration tests to identify vulnerabilities.
- Respond to and investigate security incidents, providing detailed post-incident analysis.
- Automate security tasks and processes where possible to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a cyber security engineering or architecture role.
- Proficiency with security technologies such as endpoint detection and response (EDR), network security monitoring, and cloud security controls.
- Strong understanding of risk management frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automation is a plus.
