Cyber Security Engineer

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join their expanding IT team in Cardiff . This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and maintaining the organisation's security infrastructure to protect against a wide range of cyber threats. You will be responsible for deploying and managing security technologies, responding to incidents, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our security posture. Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, and manage security solutions including firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and endpoint security tools.
• Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments of systems and networks.
• Monitor security systems for potential threats and respond effectively to security incidents.
• Develop and maintain security documentation, including policies, procedures, and configurations.
• Collaborate with IT operations teams to ensure secure system deployments and configurations.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on cybersecurity best practices to internal teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience as a Cyber Security Engineer or similar role.
• Proficiency with security technologies and tools, including network security, encryption, and authentication.
• Experience with cloud security principles (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong understanding of common cyber threats and mitigation strategies.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CCSP are a plus.
