About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Cyber Security Specialist to join their IT department based in Cardiff . This role is crucial in protecting the company's digital assets and ensuring the integrity of its IT infrastructure. You will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security measures, monitoring systems for threats, and responding to security incidents. This is an on-site position, requiring the successful candidate to work from our modern Cardiff office. We are seeking a proactive individual with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of current cyber threats and defence mechanisms. Key Responsibilities

• Implement and manage security controls, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems .
• Monitor network traffic and system logs for suspicious activities and potential security breaches.
• Respond promptly to security incidents, including investigation, containment, and eradication.
• Conduct regular vulnerability scans and penetration tests to identify and address security weaknesses.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation of security policies, procedures, and systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a cyber security or IT security role.
• Solid understanding of network security principles, protocols, and technologies.
• Experience with security tools such as SIEM, antivirus, and endpoint detection and response (EDR).
• Familiarity with threat intelligence and incident response frameworks.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
