About the Role
Our client is seeking a vigilant and proactive Cybersecurity Analyst to join their IT security team in Sunderland . This critical role involves protecting the organization's digital assets from evolving cyber threats. You will be responsible for monitoring security systems, investigating potential breaches, and implementing robust security measures. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you can contribute directly to safeguarding sensitive information, working collaboratively with team members both in the office and remotely, ensuring comprehensive security coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor security alerts and logs from various systems (SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls) to detect and respond to threats.
- Investigate security incidents, perform forensic analysis, and document findings.
- Implement and manage security controls and technologies to protect against malware, phishing, and other cyber attacks.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate security weaknesses.
- Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and awareness training programs.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a cybersecurity or information security role.
- Hands-on experience with security tools such as SIEM, EDR, firewalls, and vulnerability scanners.
- Knowledge of networking protocols, operating systems, and common attack vectors.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP are highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
