Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support enterprise data and reporting initiatives across an Azure-based data platform. This role plays a critical part in translating business requirements into clear, structured data, KPI, and reporting specifications. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical capabilities, domain experience in Water Utilities , and the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams in complex data environments.
Key Responsibilities 1. End-to-End Requirements Analysis
- Lead workshops and stakeholder discussions to capture business requirements, KPIs, reporting needs, and operational expectations.
- Document business processes, data dependencies, source system behaviors, and end-to-end reporting flows across utility platforms.
- Translate business objectives into structured, measurable data and reporting requirements.
2. Data Interpretation & Integration Alignment
- Develop a conceptual understanding of Azure data ingestion, transformation, data quality, and Lakehouse architecture.
- Define business rules, data mappings, calculations, and semantic model requirements to support analytics and reporting.
- Ensure alignment between business definitions and technical data structures.
3. Power BI Reporting Coordination
- Partner with reporting and analytics teams to define dashboard requirements, metrics, drill-down capabilities, and visualization logic.
- Validate Power BI reports to ensure KPI accuracy, consistency, and alignment with business objectives.
- Support user acceptance testing and feedback cycles for reporting solutions.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Act as a bridge between business stakeholders, data architects, engineers, QA teams, and reporting developers.
- Ensure clarity and traceability of requirements across ingestion, modeling, and reporting layers.
- Proactively manage dependencies, questions, and changes impacting data and reporting delivery.
5. Documentation & Governance
- Produce high-quality documentation including BRDs, FRDs, user stories, business rules, and data mapping specifications.
- Define acceptance criteria and support governance artifacts such as KPI dictionaries, metadata definitions, and reporting standards.
- Contribute to consistent and repeatable data and reporting practices.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6–10 years of experience in a Business Analyst role, preferably within data, analytics, or reporting programs.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex business requirements into structured data definitions.
- Experience defining KPIs, dashboards, and semantic models for enterprise reporting.
- Working knowledge of Azure-based data platforms and data pipeline concepts.
- Hands‑on experience coordinating Power BI reporting requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Domain experience in Water Utilities or similar regulated industries.
- Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, and data quality frameworks.
- Experience working in Agile or hybrid delivery environments.
- Understanding of Lakehouse architectures and modern data platforms.
