Data Centre Manager
Location: Slough
Salary: £75,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:00am–4:00pm
Contract: Permanent
Nexus Careers is working with a leading data centre and critical facilities provider to recruit an experienced Data Centre Manager for a high-profile site in Slough.
This is a senior operational position with responsibility for the safe, reliable and commercially effective delivery of engineering services. The successful candidate must come from a strong technical background and have experience managing budgets, costs and financial performance.
The role offers excellent exposure within the business and further progression opportunities into senior operational leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the data centre.
- Lead and develop the site engineering, supervisory and support teams.
- Ensure critical mechanical and electrical systems remain safe, reliable and available.
- Oversee planned, reactive and statutory maintenance activities.
- Manage technical incidents, escalations and root-cause investigations.
- Ensure compliance with permits, RAMS, safe systems of work and site procedures.
- Manage specialist contractors and service providers.
- Maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
- Monitor site performance against agreed KPIs and service levels.
- Produce operational reports and present performance updates.
- Manage site budgets, expenditure, purchase orders and financial forecasts.
- Review costs, quotations, variations and opportunities for commercial improvement.
- Support lifecycle planning, asset replacement and project delivery.
- Identify operational efficiencies and improvements to site resilience.
- Ensure the site remains compliant with health, safety and statutory requirements.
Candidate Requirements
- Strong technical background within electrical, mechanical or building services engineering.
- Previous management experience within a data centre or critical environment.
- Good knowledge of critical electrical and mechanical infrastructure.
- Experience managing engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
- Financial experience covering budgets, forecasting, cost control or P&L management.
- Strong client, stakeholder and contractor management skills.
- Relevant technical or engineering qualifications.
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities.
