Data Engineer - AI Platforms

About the Role

Our client is looking for a dedicated Data Engineer to architect and manage the data infrastructure powering their advanced AI initiatives in Belfast . You will be responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable data pipelines that collect, transform, and store vast amounts of data for machine learning and analytics. This role is crucial for ensuring the quality, accessibility, and reliability of data resources, enabling our data science and engineering teams to build and deploy sophisticated AI solutions efficiently. You will work in a dynamic, remote-first environment, contributing to the backbone of our AI capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, construct, install, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure.
• Develop ETL/ELT processes to ingest and transform data from various sources.
• Optimize data storage and retrieval for performance and cost-efficiency.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data platforms.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers and data scientists to understand their data requirements.
• Implement monitoring and alerting for data pipelines and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in data engineering or a similar role.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka).
• Strong programming skills in Python or Java.
• Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
