Data Protection Lawyer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a dedicated and expert Data Protection Lawyer to join their entirely remote legal team. In this critical role, you will be the go-to expert for all matters relating to data privacy, GDPR, and other relevant data protection legislation. You will be responsible for advising the organisation on compliance strategies, mitigating risks, and ensuring best practices are implemented across all business functions. This position is ideal for a legal professional who is passionate about data privacy and enjoys the autonomy and flexibility that a fully remote role offers, working collaboratively with stakeholders across the business from anywhere in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain the company's data protection compliance program , including policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Advise on all aspects of GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy laws and regulations concerning data processing activities.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on the legal requirements for new projects and technologies.
• Manage and respond to data subject access requests (DSARs) and regulatory inquiries from data protection authorities.
• Provide expert legal guidance on data breaches, including investigation, reporting, and mitigation strategies.
• Review and advise on data processing agreements (DPAs) and international data transfer mechanisms.

Requirements

• Qualified Solicitor or Barrister in England and Wales with a strong focus on Data Protection and Privacy Law .
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in data privacy, with in-depth knowledge of GDPR and related regulations.
• Experience in advising on international data transfers and cross-border data compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex compliance projects in a remote environment .
• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal audiences.
