Data Protection Lawyer

About the Role

Our client is actively seeking a specialist Data Protection Lawyer to join their dedicated, remote-first legal team based in the UK. In this critical role, you will be the go-to expert for all matters concerning data privacy and protection, ensuring the company remains compliant with GDPR, the Data Protection Act, and other relevant legislation. You will work closely with the IT, Marketing, and Product Development teams to embed data protection principles into all business processes and new initiatives. Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on GDPR, UK data protection laws, and international privacy regulations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and training programs.
• Conduct Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advise on risk mitigation strategies.
• Review and advise on data processing agreements and third-party data sharing arrangements.
• Manage and respond to data subject access requests and data breach incidents.
• Liaise with supervisory authorities and represent the company in data protection-related investigations.

Requirements

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with significant experience in data protection and privacy law.
• Comprehensive understanding of GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, and international privacy frameworks.
• Experience in conducting DPIAs and managing data breaches.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to provide practical, business-focused advice.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with all levels of the organization.
• Experience with cloud technologies and data security best practices is highly desirable.
