Data Protection Officer

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking organisation, is seeking a highly competent Data Protection Officer to join their team and ensure robust compliance with GDPR and other data privacy regulations. This critical role will involve overseeing the organisation's data protection strategy, advising on compliance matters, and managing data privacy impact assessments. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of data privacy awareness throughout the company. This fully remote position offers the unique opportunity to shape and implement data protection policies from a strategic level, working autonomously within a supportive, digitally-enabled environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive data protection policies and procedures.
• Act as the primary point of contact for supervisory authorities and data subjects.
• Conduct regular data protection audits and assessments to ensure compliance.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on data protection best practices.
• Advise on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) for new projects and systems.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a data protection or privacy role, preferably as a Data Protection Officer .
• Thorough understanding of GDPR, UK Data Protection Act 2018, and other relevant privacy laws.
• Experience in conducting DPIAs and managing data breach incidents.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and lead initiatives in a remote setting.
