Data Scientist - Insurance Analytics

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Data Scientist to join their remote-first analytics team. You will leverage advanced statistical and machine learning techniques to extract actionable insights from large, complex datasets, driving strategic decisions in pricing, underwriting, claims, and customer behavior. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that have a direct impact on the business's success, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fully remote setting. You will be instrumental in building sophisticated predictive models and uncovering hidden patterns within insurance data, working from anywhere in the UK, but ideally near our Reading hub for occasional meetings.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and deploy predictive models using machine learning algorithms for pricing, risk assessment, and fraud detection.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for business improvement.
• Design and conduct A/B tests and other experiments to evaluate the effectiveness of strategies.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to define analytical problems and translate them into data science solutions.
• Build data visualizations and dashboards to communicate complex findings to non-technical audiences.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI.

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience as a Data Scientist with a strong portfolio of predictive modeling projects.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
• Experience with SQL and working with large databases.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and big data technologies is a plus.
