About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and maintain their critical database systems in Stoke-on-Trent . This role is essential for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of all company databases. You will be responsible for installation, configuration, upgrading, and troubleshooting of database software, as well as performance tuning and backup/recovery operations. This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining office presence with remote flexibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain database server software (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Monitor database performance and tune queries and indexes for optimal efficiency.
- Implement and manage robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability.
- Ensure database security by implementing access controls, user management, and applying security patches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, minimizing downtime.
- Plan and execute database upgrades and migrations.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
- Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS).
- Proficiency in database backup, recovery, and performance tuning techniques.
- Experience with database security best practices.
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) for automation is a plus.
