A leading financial technology firm is looking to appoint an experienced Database Platform Engineer to join its growing Platform Engineering team.
Working across both on-premise infrastructure and AWS, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and operating highly available database platforms that support large-scale engineering workloads. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys automation, performance tuning, and solving complex infrastructure challenges.
The role
- Build, operate, and scale enterprise database platforms
- Support PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, CockroachDB and other relational database technologies
- Develop automation using Python, Terraform, and Ansible
- Optimise database performance, resilience, and scalability
- Design and improve monitoring, alerting, and platform reliability
- Collaborate closely with software and platform engineering teams
- Drive operational excellence across mission-critical database services
Requirements
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL, CockroachDB or similar database technologies
- Experience operating database platforms at scale
- Strong Linux and Python skills
- Infrastructure as Code experience using Terraform, Ansible or similar
- Kubernetes and container platform experience
- AWS experience
- Strong understanding of automation and platform engineering principles
Package
- Up to £150,000 base salary
- Annual discretionary bonus
