About the Role

Our client is looking for a skilled Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Engineer to join their dynamic team in Sunderland . This role is central to developing and optimizing innovative financial products and services built on blockchain technology. You will contribute to the design, implementation, and deployment of smart contracts and protocols that power the future of finance. Working in a hybrid model, you will collaborate with a team of passionate technologists dedicated to advancing the DeFi ecosystem and building secure, user-friendly financial applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy secure smart contracts for various DeFi protocols (e.g., lending, borrowing, exchanges).
• Integrate blockchain technologies with traditional financial systems where applicable.
• Optimize smart contract performance and gas efficiency for Ethereum and other EVM-compatible chains.
• Collaborate with product teams to design and implement new DeFi features and products.
• Conduct security audits and risk assessments on smart contract code and protocol designs.
• Stay updated with the latest trends and innovations in the DeFi space.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Smart Contract Developer or DeFi Engineer .
• Strong proficiency in Solidity and experience with Web3 development tools (e.g., Hardhat, Truffle).
• Solid understanding of DeFi primitives, economic principles, and associated risks.
• Experience with various blockchain networks and their specific features.
• Familiarity with front-end development frameworks is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
