Dementia Care Support Worker

About the Role

Our client is looking for a specialist and caring Dementia Care Support Worker to join their experienced team in Plymouth . This role is dedicated to providing high-quality, person-centred care and support to individuals living with dementia in their own homes or in residential settings. You will focus on promoting independence, dignity, and well-being, while understanding and responding sensitively to the unique challenges faced by those with cognitive impairments. This is a deeply rewarding role for individuals with patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of people with dementia.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care and assistance with daily living activities, tailored to the individual needs of residents with dementia.
• Implement care plans that promote cognitive stimulation, social engagement, and physical well-being.
• Communicate effectively and empathetically with individuals experiencing memory loss or confusion.
• Support residents’ emotional needs, offering reassurance and companionship.
• Monitor residents' health and well-being, promptly reporting any changes to the care manager.
• Assist with meal times and ensure nutritional needs are met, providing support where necessary.

Requirements

• Previous experience working with individuals with dementia or in a similar care setting.
• Understanding of dementia care principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience and empathy.
• Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
• Willingness to undertake specialised dementia care training.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to providing a high standard of care.
