Introduction
Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for an experienced Depot Manager to take ownership of a busy logistics operation, driving high standards across transport, warehouse, stock, fleet and delivery performance. This is a key operational leadership position for an experienced Depot Manager, Logistics Manager or Transport Manager with a strong background in depot, transport or distribution environments. You will oversee the safe and efficient movement of stock from goods-in through to customer delivery, while leading teams, managing resources and driving continuous improvement.

Key Duties
- Manage daily delivery planning for HGV Class 2 vehicles and vans, including multi-drop routes, vehicle allocation and driver availability.
- Oversee the movement of stock from goods-in through storage, picking, loading and customer delivery.
- Manage vehicle availability, utilisation, checks, defects, maintenance and servicing.
- Monitor driver licences, qualifications, drivers' hours and compliance.
- Ensure incoming stock is accurately checked, safely stored and efficiently moved through the depot.
- Manage stock discrepancies, damaged and returned goods, stock takes and inventory accuracy.
- Maintain safe and efficient warehouse and yard operations.
- Ensure compliance with transport legislation, health and safety requirements, vehicle checks and safe systems of work.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, attendance, performance and capability management.
- Monitor KPIs including delivery performance, route efficiency, vehicle utilisation, loading times, stock accuracy and productivity.
- Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to increase performance and reduce costs.
- Resolve operational issues including failed deliveries, delays, vehicle breakdowns, driver absence, accidents and incidents.
Requirements
- Extensive experience managing logistics, transport and depot operations.
- Strong experience with HGV and van transport, multi-drop delivery and route planning.
- Proven experience managing drivers, warehouse teams, vehicles and operational resources.
- Excellent knowledge of transport legislation, drivers' hours, vehicle compliance and health and safety.
- Experience using KPIs and operational data to improve productivity and service levels.
- Strong organisational, decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Hands-on and proactive management style.
- Ability to identify operational risks and implement practical improvements.
- Excellent communication and people management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with drivers, warehouse teams, HR, management and external providers.
