Design Engineer / Draughtsperson
Peterborough £40,000 – £45,000 DOE + Overtime + Benefits Your Recruitment Coach are working with an established and growing engineering business looking to add an experienced 3D SolidWorks Design Engineer / Draughtsperson to their Project Engineering team. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys designing, problem solving and seeing their work come to life. You’ll be involved from initial concept through to installation, working on bespoke food processing systems and industrial projects. The Role of DESIGN ENGINEER / DRAUGHTSPERSON Working alongside a close-knit team of Project Engineers, you’ll take responsibility for a range of design and draughting requirements, including: Developing 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings Sheet metal and structural steelwork design Designing access platforms, walkways and staircases Site surveys and measuring existing operating areas Producing fabrication and installation drawings Process layout design and refinement Designing interconnecting chutes and equipment Load-bearing calculations and identifying foot loadings Identifying utility connection points Producing risk assessments for specific solutions and layouts Updating drawings to reflect as-installed designs The projects are predominantly within the food processing industry, so experience of hygienic and food-safe design is highly beneficial.
About You
We’re looking for an experienced design engineer or draughtsperson who has: Strong 3D SolidWorks experience, ideally including Weldments, Sheet Metal and Part Modelling Experience designing equipment and structural steelwork Good knowledge of industrial fabrication methods Experience producing detailed fabrication drawings HNC/HND in Engineering or equivalent Minimum 3 years' industrial design experience Working knowledge of AutoCAD An understanding of machinery guarding, CE marking and machinery regulations A practical and commercial approach to design and value engineering Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team A flexible and enthusiastic approach Willingness to undertake occasional UK and overseas site surveys Experience within food machinery, food processing or hygienic design would be particularly useful.
