The programme includes reinforced-concrete portal buildings, tunnel shafts and pumping-station buildings. Each asset incorporates extensive mechanical, electrical, controls, communications, fire, public-health and vertical-transportation systems. The design intent has been established, with the focus now on completing and coordinating construction-level design information.
Responsibilities
- Lead MEP design coordination across multiple routewide assets
- Manage the completion and assurance of construction-design packages
- Review specialist contractor drawings and technical submissions
- Ensure contractor designs remain aligned with the approved design intent
- Coordinate electrical, mechanical, architectural, civil and structural interfaces
- Chair design reviews and multidisciplinary coordination meetings
- Manage technical queries, design changes and approval processes
- Monitor design deliverables against procurement and construction programmes
- Identify coordination, compliance and constructability risks
- Support material, plant and equipment approvals
- Work with site teams to resolve design-related construction issues
- Coordinate with consultants, subcontractors and client stakeholders Candidate requirements:
- Extensive MEP or building-services design-management experience
- Strong understanding of construction design and technical assurance
- Experience managing specialist subcontractor design packages
- Ability to review multidisciplinary interfaces and technical submissions
- Knowledge of design change, compliance and approval processes
- Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills
- Major-project or NEC experience would be advantageous Candidates from Tier 1 building contractors, design-and-build organisations, consultancies and MEP specialists are encouraged to apply. Rail experience is not essential, making this an excellent route into infrastructure, civil engineering and major structural projects
