Design Technology Teacher

Flourish Education are looking for a Design & Technology Teacher to join a welcoming secondary school in Solihull. This is a long-term supply opportunity starting in September 2026 and continuing through to July 2027.

The successful Design & Technology Teacher will join a supportive school environment where high-quality teaching and learning are valued. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical lessons across KS3 and KS4, helping pupils develop their creativity, technical knowledge, problem-solving skills and confidence.

The role may involve teaching a range of Design & Technology specialisms, including resistant materials, textiles, food preparation and nutrition, depending on your experience and the requirements of the school.

Job Role

• Deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Teach a combination of practical and theoretical DT content
• Cover areas including materials, resistant materials, textiles, food preparation and nutrition
• Follow the National Curriculum and adapt lessons to meet a range of learning needs
• Create a safe and positive learning environment within workshops and classrooms
• Manage behaviour effectively and consistently
• Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback
• Build positive working relationships with pupils and staff
• Work confidently across a range of DT and Food Technology classes

Required Skills and Experience

• Design & Technology Teacher, DT Teacher, Food Technology Teacher, Food Tech Teacher, Secondary Teacher, DT ECT, Food ECT or Supply Teacher
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Early Career Teacher (ECT)
• Strong subject knowledge across Design & Technology and Food Technology
• Good understanding of the KS3 and KS4 National Curriculum
• Experience of maintaining safe working practices during practical lessons
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Ability to deliver engaging, practical and challenging lessons
