Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Despatch Operative to join our logistics team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely dispatch of goods, maintaining stock integrity, and supporting warehouse operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with warehouse experience and mechanical knowledge to contribute to a well-organised supply chain environment. The position involves heavy lifting, materials handling, and utilisation of warehouse management systems, including AS400. All roles are paid positions, including internships.
Responsibilities
Prepare and organise outgoing shipments in accordance with dispatch schedules
Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely to load and unload goods
Manage stock levels using warehouse management systems such as AS400
Pick and pack orders efficiently whilst maintaining accuracy
Assist with shipping and receiving processes, ensuring all documentation is correct
Handle materials with care, adhering to health and safety standards
Load and unload lorries, ensuring goods are secured appropriately for transit
Maintain a clean and organised work environment to promote safety and efficiency
Support stock replenishment activities such as stocking shelves or storage areas
Collaborate with team members to meet daily dispatch targets
Qualifications
Previous warehouse experience is highly desirable
Mechanical knowledge or construction experience is advantageous
Valid forklift licence or willingness to obtain one is preferred
Familiarity with warehouse management systems, particularly AS400, is beneficial
Experience in materials handling, picking & packing, shipping & receiving is preferred
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely (up to 25kg) and work in physically demanding environments
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
Basic knowledge of stock control procedures and warehouse safety standards
