Pay Rate: £15.14 per hour
Contract: Temporary – Initial 4-Month Contract
Hours: Monday to Thursday 08:00–16:30 | Friday 08:00–15:30
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Despatch Operative to join a busy manufacturing environment in Devizes on an initial 4-month temporary contract.
This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring customer orders are accurately picked, packed, labelled and prepared for collection, while maintaining stock accuracy and high standards of quality and safety.
The Role
- Pick customer orders accurately and to required deadlines.
- Pack finished goods in line with customer-specific requirements.
- Accurately label shipments, including export packaging.
- Check and verify outgoing paperwork.
- Coordinate courier and haulier collections and deliveries.
- Receive, count and transfer finished stock into secure locations.
- Carry out stock transfers from production cells.
- Complete regular stock checks and assist with stock queries.
- Monitor packaging stock levels and raise internal requests.
- Operate a forklift truck to move stock and materials safely.
- Raise non-conformance reports where required.
- Carry out customer rework and apply flag labels.
- Maintain good housekeeping and work to 5S principles.
- Follow Health & Safety procedures and current working instructions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement within the Despatch operation.
About You
We're looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Ideally, you\'ll have:
- Previous experience in Despatch, Stores, Warehouse or Logistics, preferably within manufacturing.
- Experience of picking and packing customer orders.
- Stock counting and stock transfer experience.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly with labelling and paperwork.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work to tight deadlines.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a small team.
The role involves regular manual handling and can be physically demanding, so a practical and hands-on approach is essential.
